When was the last time you cried?
And not tears from a good belly laugh, but tears that you've suppressed because you believed you had to keep it all together?
I know exactly what its like to swallow your emotions. I've always functioned at a high level, and often been the strength and voice of reason for those around me.
I falsely believed that I needed to keep a smile on my face, and "woman up" in protection of myself and others.
Recently, I shared some news in a mastermind group, and my mentor called out that there was apart of me holding back. As she mirrored this truth and held space, my pride wouldn't allow me to let it all go....not in that moment. I was ashamed that ME; the healer, still needed healing.
Although I couldn't access my emotions then, I decided to make an appointment with my cry. Later that night, I drew a bath with the intention of allowing the tears to freely flow.
It's funny how the residue of wounds not fully healed has a way of revealing itself when its time to surrender in order to make room for the new.
Little did I know the tears would continue to flow for what felt like 2 weeks. I decided not to back away from my grief, my fear, my rage. Instead, I felt it, embodied it. I refused to minimize my truth of feeling shitty no matter how others received it.
I instinctively knew it was apart of my own process. The shackles of being concerned of what others, you thought of me HAD to come off.
So....when was the last time you cried?
And not for anyone else, but yourself.
Tomorrow happens to be a new moon, and is always a perfect time to align with the intention of truth. However, in order to live in truth you may need to grieve the lie. I certainly plan to engage in ritual that acknowledges the mask of shame I'm no longer wearing.
What's calling for your tears?
What part of your identity do you need grieve?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Blessings and love,
Keandra
